Cartoon by Fred Wright (1907-1984), the leading left-labor columnist from the 1940s through the 1970s, whose work was featured in the UE News, publication of the United Electrical, Radio & Machine Workers of America (UERMWA) and dealt with both labor and social issues. In this cartoon, the head of the US Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) is shown predicting that in 10 years, the Russians would have 40,000 more scientists that the US because of its educational budget, while in this country Big Business denounces any attempt to obtain Federal aid for education as "socialism."
